A Uniform, Workable Framework

Rules & Guidelines

213 Main Street, Suite 201, Hudson, MA 01749 · (978) 562-8601

FairPlay’s Rules and Guidelines establish consistent expectations for everyone involved.

The purpose of these written protocols is to create a safe, predictable, professionally neutral environment and a uniform, workable practice so that all parties, service providers, attorneys, and the Court understand how services are provided.

The rules address practical issues such as arrivals and departures, parental contact, prohibited subjects, additional participants, substances, weapons, telephone use, gifts, photography, exchanges, safety, and conduct during parenting time.

Clear boundaries allow the supervisor to address concerns in real time while preserving the parent’s opportunity to parent and the child’s opportunity to have meaningful contact. The rules are intended to create the conditions for successful parenting time, not to punish or control parents.

Fees

Fees and pricing are available upon request. FairPlay provides a written fee agreement for review before services begin.

Payment & Scheduling

1

Payment arrangements must be confirmed before services begin. The intake fee is non-refundable.

2

The written fee agreement sets out the reserved visit time, additional time charges, and billing increments. Fees are available upon request.

3

FairPlay reserves professional time specifically for each family. Once time has been booked and reserved, supervisors are paid for the time reserved whether or not all of that time is ultimately used.

4

FairPlay does not use a traditional cancellation policy based upon a set number of hours or business days. With appropriate notice and supervisor availability, FairPlay will work with families to swap days for special events.

5

When parenting time cannot occur because of unforeseen circumstances, FairPlay will make reasonable efforts to arrange a make-up day, subject to supervisor availability.

6

FairPlay does not charge for travel time or basic case management. Supervisor admission or entrance fees and required parking expenses associated with an activity are the responsibility of the visiting parent.

Conduct & Safety

7

Alcohol, illegal drugs, smoking, and weapons are prohibited during parenting time. A supervisor may pause or end parenting time when a substance or safety concern requires attention.

8

Arguments, harassment, confrontation, threats, and other adult conflict are not permitted. Supervisors address concerns in real time and may pause or end parenting time when needed to preserve safety and the service framework.

9

Arrival, departure, and transition protocols are established before parenting time begins. Families are expected to follow the agreed times and locations so transitions remain predictable and reduce unnecessary parent-to-parent contact.

Communication & Technology

10

Telephone use, photography, audio or video recording, and other technology expectations are addressed during intake and in the written service protocols.

11

Adult legal disputes, court proceedings, addresses, and other subjects outside the parenting-time purpose should not be discussed with children during visits.

12

Any required exchange of medical, scheduling, or other practical information should occur through the communication process established by FairPlay.

Visit Structure & Participation

13

The visiting parent remains the parent during parenting time and is encouraged to assume responsibility for the child’s ordinary care, needs, activities, meals, and age-appropriate interaction.

14

When appropriate, a supervisor may provide real-time guidance, prompting, redirection, and parent education while preserving room for natural parent-child interaction.

15

Additional participants, gifts, photographs, activities, and location changes must be addressed through the written service plan or approved in advance.

16

Parents are expected to follow any no-contact, line-of-sight, arrival, departure, and exchange requirements in the applicable order or written agreement.

FairPlay’s Role & Scope

17

FairPlay supervisors maintain professional neutrality. They support the structure and safety of parenting time while allowing parents and children room to interact.

18

Supervisors are not investigators, custody evaluators, therapists, parenting-plan decision makers, expert witnesses, advocates for either parent, or the “eyes and ears of the Court.”

19

Documentation remains objective, factual, and within the defined scope of service. Activity Logs and Incident Reports serve different purposes and do not become evaluations or recommendations.

Written Service Agreement

Before services begin, each participating parent receives the current FairPlay Rules and Guidelines, scope of service, fee agreement, and any case-specific protocols that require acknowledgement.

  1. 1

    Review the framework

FairPlay reviews the applicable order, safety concerns, logistics, scheduling needs, and written protocols before parenting time begins.

  2. 2

    Clarify expectations

Each parent has an opportunity to understand the service scope, boundaries, communication process, and fee agreement.

  3. 3

    Acknowledge the agreement

Required documents are signed and returned through FairPlay’s designated intake process.
